[timestamp system time hh:mm] talk ends --> [Conclusion here] _____________________________________________________ -------- Mietshäusersyndikat: den Immobilienmarkt hacken -fabi- -------- 11:30 herald introduces the speaker and talk speaker starts the talk 11:30 - no sound 11:31 - no stream 11:31 - herald introduces speaker deutsch 11:32 - speaker starts talk 11:32 - stream stockt, video dropoutsm, audio dropouts 11:33 - cam: low exposure settings, picture could be a bit brighter 11:33 - video, audio dropouts 11:34 - cam: could be a bit narrower and a tiny bit less head room 11:35 - cam: image appears not to be 100 % in focus (eyes appearing a bit unsharp) 11:37 - at least audio dropout 11:38 - 34C3 logo covers hairs of speaker 11:42 - fonts are thin and small - slides should be in full screen 11:43 - white balance seems not to be 100 % ok. white on the big screen in the hall seems not to be the same colour as the white, when slides are shown direct 11:44 - maybe there will be any way whatsoever to enlarge 4:3-slides to fully use the 16:9 screen. slides would appear a bit larger (when possible) 11:47 - very low exposure. darkish image, noisy image in the blacks 11:52 - mix: would nice, when the frame in the lower left would be in the background (because of the no information black borders of the 4:3 frame of the slodes) 11:53 - cam: herold has a bit less head room and is looking out of the frame 11:55 - audio: has audio a triangle shaped enevelope multiplied 11:55 - audio: humming 50, 150 Hz and more harmonics signal appears in the audio 11:56 - cam: speaker could have a bit more nose room 11:57 - stream observer unavailable due to urgent biological reasons until end of talk and Q&A session talk ends --> [Conclusion here] One could follow the talk with no problems. There were only minor thing, which appeared. In the beginning there were some audio audio drop outs and video dropout (video freezed). The exposure was very low throught the talk and noisy in the blacks. Nose room of the speaker could be adjusted when replying. Focus should be checked on a regular basis. Maybe not using open iris setting could support, whenever light conditions will allow this. _____________________________________________________ -------- Schreibtisch-Hooligans -fabi- -------- 12:15 herald introduces the speaker and talk 12:16 speaker starts the talk 12:16 camera shakes 12:17 audio, scratches, very noisy signal, disturbances 12:18 speaker gets new microphone installed 12:19 nice cut to full screen slide 12:19 clipping/clicking audio occassionally 12:20 side by side seems unlogic with this camera setting. one can hardly see the speaker. 12:21 - nice to see 34C3 logo on the desk. speaker could have a bit more headrom 12:22 - nice side by side mix 12:23 - clicking audio 12:23 - sound is very stressful, maybe a lower compression rate would help with reduced higher frequencies 12:28 - cam should not follow every tiny movement of the speaker. when he gets out of the frame a bit, he will return. framing size is ok 12:29 - audio splutters, robot sound, mixed packets? sounds weired 12:31 - audio seems ok again 12.31 - speaker seems not to be in focus 100 % 12:32 - hard following camera makes one dizzy ;-) 12:42 - white of the slides photographed by the camera matches not with white of the slides directly put into the stream 12:44 - audio and video seems out of sync 12:44 - cam: would nice, when camera would catch the whole 34C3 logo on the desk 12:46 - camera shakes 12:46 - nice overview, nice switch vo pause slides and sound 12:46 - talk ends Conclusion Mixing was good, audio was not good throughtout the talk. There seemed to be losses, intermixed packets and a bit out of sync to the video shown. It was very hard to listen to, becuase of the high dominant higher frequencies present in the audio and maybe a bit too mnuch compression engaged. The camera following every little micro step of the speaker when in side by side mode was driving one crazy, although the speaker apperared stable, the desk panning left to right and vice versa was not comfortable. _____________________________________________________ -------- TrustZone is not enough -fabi- -------- 12:58 herald introduces the speaker and talk speaker starts the talk 12:58 - herold speaks but beamer screen is shown 12:58 - head room could be less 12:58 - audio and video not in sync 13:00 - nice to have slides in full screen 13:01 - too much head room, field of view could be more narrow, 34C3 logo is cut 13:02 - cam framing good for small side by side 13:03 - audio is going crazy, sounds like puzzled audio packets 13:04 - audio recovers 13:05 - nice to see a whats around the speaker, but unfortunately speaker has lots to much head room, show screw driver instead (if possible due to recipients heads) 13:11 - although the head room for the speaker is way to much, is was very good, when speaker walks below the 34C3 logo in the upper right corner ... headrooms seems to be perfect for that 13:13 - theres lots of information on the slide. would be better to show these slides in full screen, at least for some seconds 13:20 - sounds weired, intermixed packets 13:20 - nice cam framing, getting all the 34c3 logo on th desk maybe a little too much head room 13:29 - speaker out fo camera frame 13:29 - speaker seems not in focus 13:29 - herald has a bit too much head room 13:30 - talk ends, no Q&A Conclusion Was nice mixed. one camera seems to be not as sharp as the other or it was not properly in focus in hall Adams. Slides with small or thin fonts or sides with huge information density should nbe showed in full screen for standard definition viewers. Sound was out of sync he whole talk, although weired audio scrumbling did just appeared one or two times. _____________________________________________________ ------ 0en & 1en auf dem Acker -fabi- ------ 13:45 herold introduces speaker and talk 13:47 stream drops in - herold paused 13:47 herold introduces talk 13:47 unused microphone is open 13:48 would be nice, when herold would not stand behind monitoting speaker ... 13:48 cam: speaker seems unterexposed, not in focus 13:.49 mix: nice to see slide in full screen 13:49 pic in pic covers minor details of the slide 13:50 would nice to have the slide at least for some seconds in full screen due to the small fonts on the right hand side of the slide 13:52 nice cam framing, his hand is in the frame 13:53 field of view too wide, speaker could be pleaced more to the right 13:54 pic in pic covers minor details of the slide, fixed 13:56 cam was black for some frames? 14:00 cam was black for some frames again 14:01 nice framing of the speaker 14:03 nice framing of the speaker again, nice logo on the desk 14:05 nice framing again, logo very good 14:09 mix: good switched to slide fullscreen 14:10 mix: good pic in pic 14:10 pic in pic covers minor things oin slide, fixed - very awake video mixer :-) 14:18 herold nice located, little too les head room 14:18 aaaaaah, why letting herald start some heaven informations and then kill the stream. One wants to know what she wants to say! 14:18 end of talk Conclusion: A very awake and spot on video mixer. The camera angels did a great job and photographed very well, to gain very nice images. Like the conditions in the previous talks, it seems, that the conditions are really low light conditions. The camera or lens seems not produce really sharp images. Herold appeas much sharper, maybe just because of better exposure and higher contrast. Very very nice production overall, bad luck, herald was cut at the end. ------------ Fcuk Dutch mass-surveillance: let's have a referendum! -fabi- ----------- 14:30 herold introduced speaker and talk 14:30 audio and video out of sync 14:30 cam: too less head room for herold, fixed 14:30 camera is moving 14:31 camera speaker nice framed, camera is moving 14:33 mix: good layout 14:33 camera is following well, fluid brake coud be reset to gain a more smooth start and stop 14:33 communication between mix and cam seems to be good, because cam reframed when camera was in full screen mode 14:36 cam: speaker a bit too much head room, 34c3 logo cut a bit 14:36 nice mixing job, showing slides after some seconds in full screen, looks oraganic 14:47 cam could have reduced the head room 14:47 herold opens Q&A - no audio! 14:48 first sentences of herold are not direct audio from herold's microphone 14:49 camera is aware in which direction the speaker is talking to and adjusted framing - could have less head room 14:50 panning of herold's camera is a little bit rough 14:50 weired(!!) mixing - both cameras are in super source with overlapping field of view 14:51 herolds talking, speaker in the stream. Feels crazy 14:53 mixing: Nice idea to have herold and speaker in the stream. But: herold is in the forground frame, spaker in the background. Don't like that. 14:54 herold camaea is radjusting while cam is on stream for no obvious reason 14:54 was there a short audio dropout (not 100 % shure) 15:00 why is speaker's camera always using "amerikanische" framing 15:01 audio sometimes mixed with microphones placed in the hall. Is there a gate triggering? 15:02 nice cut to pause sliides and sound! Great! Side Note It was very uncomfotabel at least for me as a stream observer to be right next to a confrontation happening in the VOC room. Was just 1..2 minutes, but not very comfortable. Confrontation reappears again several times. Conclusion Seems again a very awake video mixer angels. Camera is again aware of scenic framing, although could some times be a bite more aware fo head room. Is camera 100 % mechanical braked in the tilt axis? Head room of the speaker was never adjusted, for me it seems quiete obvious, the camera angle has very good skills. When mixing was in side by side mode, camera did a great job following roaming speaker ;-) Again a very nice production. Like the others previous talks, one camera seems not to be producing 100 % sharp images and audio and video are out of sync. Mixing quality at the end seems dropped from very very nice to good ;-) A very, very nice production! :-) ------ The Internet in Cuba: A Story of Community Resilience ------ 15:16 - Stream Start 15:16 - audio out of sync? - around one second 15:17 - Operator Voice on stream 15:18 - Breathing on Audio (levels equal to speaker) 15:19 - the two speakers are too close together for a closeup - stream shows one speaker cut in half 15:20 - Camera (3 i think) cuts 3 times in a row for a few frames 15:20 - Cut to Camera a little early - camera is shown moving an instantly stopping 15:22 - Camera pan to show two people a bit slow - Camera movement is more noticable if you are slowly moving across a person 15:22 - This isn't necessarily a slide that needed to be show as long with picture in picture (Login Screen Slide) 15:23 - Breathing sounds still noticable 15:24 - Show Camera in fullscreen if the information on the screen is sparse (Wifi sharing, and 2 other stings slides) 15:25 - Highres GUI slide not as important (because it's not supposed to be read in detail), probably could have cut away earlier 15:26 - Mixing Misclick Noticeable - Staying in Picture in Picture until a break would feel less rushed for an observer 15:28 - When the Speaker is storytelling fullscreen cam seems more appropriate 15:28 - Speaker is trying really hard to break the frame using his gestures 15:29 - Speaker (wearing tor shirt) talks outside of the frame - this speaker is moving less then the other one - try a closer shot (you have headroom) 15:31 - One of the speakers seems to be breathing a lot into the microphone 15:32 - Good use of Fullscreen camera during storytelling 15:33 - Another Storytelling sequence that would benefit from fullscreen cam 15:34 - Speaker has long arms and uses them to gesture - Consider this in either framing or mixing 15:36 - Camera Operater seemed to not be aware of being in SbSP 15:40 - Audio sounds like someone is clapping or hiting the mic (Or a cable) - Multiple Times 15:42 - Camera Cut out once 15:43 - More Audio "claps" 15:45 - Wrong shot was shown for Picture in Picture for a second 15:46 - Audio "claps" 15:47 - Speaker gets excited and jumps out of frames for a moment 15:47 - Headroom a bit much in SbSP, hand goes out of frame 15:53 - Face of Speaker out of Focus 15:55 - Audio claps 15:56 - try, If you can, to fit the tuwat logo into a shot 15:58 - Audio claps 16:00 - Slide with Twitter Handles could have been shown after the speaker refered to them 16:05 - Gestures are important to present this speaker, try to keep his hands in the shot 16:06 - Shot frame is a bit weird, an elbow of the other speaker is shown, the speaking speaker is talking out of the frame 16:15 - Talk Over 16:15 - Stream Over Summary In general most cuts and shots where pretty good. One of the speakers made it a little hard on the cameras, which could probably have been anticipated after the first times, but it was not as distracting in most cases. Most of the feedback I had was stylistically and is supposed to be Input for creating a more guided experience. The shots where pretty stable. Audio had some issues - especially in the beginning (breathing) and some noise (claps) that did detract from the talk. I couldn't isolate where the audio issues where coming from. ------- -------- Security Nightmares Nakaner (all four talks simultaneously) -------- 16:42 nice to switch to hall camera while audience whispers "cyber cyber cyber" 16:48 it would be better if you would show the speaker fullscreen if they finished the slide 16:53 mixer does a good job, I admire you! 17:03 Why do you show the hall camera? There is no action with involvement of the audience. 17:22 I would prefer to see the speakers more often fullscreen. 17:24 good image composition while speakers are fullscreen 17:37 VBen is taking the log 17:40 in general good camera angle and fast switch over when needed 17:41 talk ended delayed Summary Nonthing Special 17:41 Stream does not stap at end of talk 17:41 camerra picture blacks out sometimes while people are moving out perhaps a cable is broken ---------- closing event VBen ---------- 17:50 Talk starts 17:50 good picture of speaker 17:51 while doing the questions some hands appear directlic in front of the hall camera 17:52 camera pan on live image was not needed 17:53 good closeup 17:55 speaker is moving out of image, a wider image would be better 17:56 better image to handle the movement of the speaker 17:57 good to show the full hall at applause 18:00 fast switch while speaker is moving out of picture 18:01 some space right of speaker des would be better to see the hand gestures 18:03 General: the cut off side tribune projections are a little bit strange in hall overview 18:08 Too long on slide side by side is better composition here 18:09 wrong switch to hall overview 18:12 camera is vertically shaking a little bit 18:14 perfact picture of speaker and speakers desk especially that there is only the 34c3 and tuwat visible 18:15 camera picture blacked out like the talk before 18:24 a little bit more headroom 18:25 sombody is walking trough the camera (a better camera position would prevent this) 18:26 hall camera is shaking during applause 18:31 unneded switch to hall camera 18:32 camera picture is blanking out <1sec 18:35 camera picture is blanking out <1sec 18:36 Talk enden with main speaker 18:37 a speaker closup would be better 18:32 close up of herald : camera picture is blanking out <1sec 18:39 camera picture is blanking out <1sec 18:40 camera picture is blanking out <1sec 18:41 talk ends Summary: The camera handling and the cutting was almost perfect. Just the blanking out of the picture was bad.
