* Open Source vs. proprietary tools for project workflow
Würde mich um die Ganzen OS Sachen kümmern, es soll ja diskutiert werden, somit müsste man auch von den proprietäre SW (MS) was zeigen, gerne würde ich bei den Werkzeugen für Projektumsetzungen bleiben, weil da Erfahrung ;-)
Dann würde ich mich um die Theorie und die Geschichte und alles von Open Source kümmern..ich stell die Woche mal was zusammen.

Independent and stable software
If you use Open Source Software you are independent from other structure and has a stable software. This confirm the company Coverity. There has analyzed the code from open source and proprietary projects. The results don't lie. They found that open source had fewer errors per thousand lines of code (KLoC) than proprietary software. A good quality software has a defect density under 1.0. The defect density was 0.59 for open source C/C++ projects an d 0.72 for proprietary C/C++ code developed for enterprise projects. This which further highlights the open source community’s strong commitment to development testing. Since 2008 has Linux the average time to fix a newly detected defect from 122 days to just six. Now is the defect density from Linux 0.61.
Zack Samocha like help the open source community with Coverity Scan service to create a high-quality software. Coverity have an exponential increase of people who join the Coverity Scan service because is simple to monitor the defects being found and fixed.
One in the last time popular become open source operating system called Ubuntu. The actual Version 14.04 has the focuses on the long haul. Mark Baker from Canonical said, that the companies very often involves re-architecting an application, when people move to cloud.
With the release of the server edition of its Linux distribution, Canonical will emphasize how it can be used for organizations as the base for running large mission-critical applications in hosted environments. The release comes with long-term support and many cloud-friendly software programs, such as Docker and the latest edition of OpenStack.
The long-term support (LTS) release means, that will give five years of patching and support. The LTS releases only come every two years. The other non-LTS releases are only supported for nine months.
So is favorable for Ubuntu, that Microsoft discontinued support for its Windows XP OS.
The package includes the latest version of the OpenStack cloud-hosting software, called Icehouse and the first to include Docker. Also Ubuntu 14.04 is the first edition to include XFS, a high performance 64-bit journaling file system first developed by SGI (Silicon Graphics).
The new Version work more effectively with solid-state disks (SSDs). The kernel 3.13 includes a new technology called Multi-Queue Block Layer, which improves read-write performance on SSD disks by spreading the work across multiple cores.
